The Department of French and Italian presents an event co-sponsored by the Department of Comparative Literature, and the Department of English:

Animalia – A Conversation with Jean-Baptiste Del Amo, followed by a book signing.

Organisation : André Benhaïm

Jean-Baptiste Del Amo is a young acclaimed French writer whose debut novel, Une éducation libertine (Gallimard, 2008) won the prestigious Prix Goncourt du Premier Roman. His books were translated into German, Romanian, Italian and Spanish. Animalia, originally published with the title Règne animal by Gallimard in 2016, is his fourth novel and the first to appear in English, in a translation by Frank Wynne and just published by Grove Atlantic (September 10, 2019). A politically engaged vegan, Del Amo will discuss Animalia, and also L214. Une voix pour les animaux [L214. A Voice for Animals] (Flammarion, 2017), based on the L214 activist group that denounces animal exploitation and slaughterhouses.
